Found: Psalm 23; Written by Sally Lloyd Jones, and illustrated by Jago. A board book designed for children 3-7, the illustration style incorporates clever, and subtle, use of pattern. The illustrations are engaging and help the text have meaning for small children.

The text is a rephrasing of the 23rd Psalm. It is simple, and except for the final page, rendered without embellishment. The text and illustrations do not shy away from the scary parts of psalm 23, but present them in a way that is age appropriate.

This book has a polyutherane filling in the cover which offers some give to the touch – becoming more usual for board books for this age group.

It is a sweet book, that holds the attention of the 4 and up crowd well. It is definitely one to read to the 2-3 year olds at bed or nap time rather than when they are inclined to be active as it doesn’t seem to hold their attention then.

The lyrical text is beautiful and this would make a great gift.
